Direct answer

Vaccinations need an explicit preventive-care benefit or wellness schedule. An illness policy alone does not establish payment for routine shots. Check each vaccine allowance, whether several shots share a cap, the exam fee and the extra annual cost.

The sections below show how to verify the answer and what can change it.

Begin with the appointment, not the advertised total

Ask the clinic to separate the planned vaccination, examination and any tests on its estimate. Then match those services with the schedule you are actually offered. A total annual wellness allowance is not a promise that every dollar can be spent on vaccines. Do not schedule unnecessary care to use benefits; clinical choices belong with your veterinarian.

These entries come from the public Pets Best routine-care page checked October 8, 2026. They are an example of one displayed schedule, not a selected state offer. The same page also displays grouped vaccination/titer allowances of $45/$55. It says benefits and prices vary by state and pet age. Because no state was selected, do not combine both layouts or assume which applies to you.

Do not infer that every vaccination listed in marketing is recommended for your pet. A dog and a cat may need different preventive care, and a schedule listing species-specific examples is not a clinical prescription. The insurance task is to locate the allowed expense and amount after your veterinarian has identified appropriate care.

A partial-use year can erase the apparent saving

Invented arithmetic using the first schedule’s example caps: assume rabies costs $30, another eligible vaccine $60 and the exam $80. If the remaining caps are $15, $30 and $50, reimbursement totals $95 and the owner retains $75 of the $170 visit. A hypothetical $15 monthly add-on costs $180 annually. If those are the only benefits used, premium exceeds reimbursement by $85. Other genuinely needed eligible services could change the result; unused categories are not cash back.

Checklist

Read these terms before counting savings

Does the benefit period follow a policy year, calendar year or another definition?
Does each line have a per-service cap, a combined cap or both?
What remains after earlier visits in the same period?
Are exam fees, taxes and administration charges separately eligible?
When may the add-on start, change or end?
What happens to unused allowances at the period boundary?

Vaccination and illness treatment remain separate

A vaccine allowance does not determine payment for treatment of an infectious illness, and treatment coverage does not establish a preventive vaccine allowance. Keep both benefit decisions traceable to their own contract sections.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the entire wellness total available for vaccinations?

Only if the applicable schedule expressly permits it; itemized category limits often determine payment.

Can I add the two published schedule layouts together?

No. Verify which state- and pet-specific schedule applies before doing value arithmetic.
